I'm prettier than Tango, but no one believes me and since I haven't been here as long, I can't convince too many visitors. But I'm WAAAAAY prettier.
My name is Corey and I'm a Triton cockatoo (Cacatua galerita triton), one of the four known species of Sulpher Crested Cockatoos. My species was originally found in the Papuan islands, New Guinea and islands in the Trobriand and Woodlark Groups.
My general description is that I'm almost 50 cm. My general plumage is white with pale yellow ear-coverts, and a narrow yellow crest. The underparts of my
flight-feathers and tail are barely pale yellow. I have a blue eyering because the Triton cockatoo is the only sulpher crested cockatoo with this pale blue eye ring. My beak is greyish-black, and my legs are dark grey. My iris is dark brown, but if I ever find a mate, her iris will be reddish brown.
If Mom didn't feed me, in the wild I would most likely be scrounging around for berries, fruits and nuts, also flowers and buds, roots, insects and larvae.
We can be pretty noisy out in the wild, and even as pets, but I try to behave and watch my manners which includes keeping my voice down a lot. Tango gets yelled at a lot because he screams all the time. I like him to scream because he gets in trouble and everyone back here in the bird room can sit back and laugh at him. One of these days, he might learn why he's being yelled at, but I doubt it, cause he's just Tango!
